Mr. Boyd is an associate in Townsend's Medical & Mechanical Devices Practice Group, focusing on patent drafting and prosecution. He is skilled in the areas of mechanical design and motion control system analysis, design, and optimization. He also has experience in electronic design, computer programming, and optics, especially illumination design and stray light analysis.
Previously, Mr. Boyd spent nearly seventeen years as an engineer at Hewlett-Packard in Colorado, where he was a key designer of several desktop scanner models. At HP, he also worked with magnetic disk drives, digital cameras, and other digital imaging devices. He then held positions in the organization's legal department, most recently as a patent attorney, where he drafted and prosecuted patent applications relating to a variety of technologies, including digital imaging and computing.
Mr. Boyd is an inventor on at least 27 US patents.
