Byron Chin is an associate in the Townsend’s Litigation Practice Group. His practice focuses on patent litigation and related intellectual property matters. His legal experience includes litigating in the areas of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals (Hatch-Waxman Act/ANDA), wireless communications, semiconductors, and trademarks.
Before joining Townsend, Mr. Chin was a summer associate at the New York office of Morgan & Finnegan LLP, where he focused on patent litigation, patent prosecution and trademark law. During law school, Mr. Chin served as a Senior Articles Editor for the UC Davis Law Review and as an Executive Editor for the UC Davis Business Law Journal.

Honeywell v. Novatek: (E.D. Tex.) Represented defendant Novatek in patent case related to liquid crystal display (LCD) systems. Team obtained summary judgment of non-infringement.
Beckman Coulter Inc. & Orchid Cellmark Inc. v. Sequenom, Inc.: (S.D. Cal.) Represented plaintiffs in litigation over three patents related to the use of “single base extension” methods for SNP genotyping.
Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) v. Buffalo, Inc. et al.; Intel Corp. and Dell Corp.; Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard and Netgear; Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Nintendo of America, Inc., Fujitsu Computer Systems Corp., ASUS Computer International, D-Link Systems, Inc., Belkin Corp., Accton Technology Corp., SMC Networks, Inc. and 3Com Corp.: (E.D. Tex, Fed. Cir.) Representing plaintiff, the national science agency of the Australian government, in patent litigation involving wireless communications technology in 802.11 a, g, and draft-n standards.
